Hey, I'm Niklas!

My carpentry journey started back in 2014. I was on a trip to Europe, and spent some time with my uncle in Germany. He had business to attend to for a couple days, and pretty much gave me free reign to play in his wood shop. The very first thing I ever made out of wood was a tray to hold a handful of slides, a grinder, a couple bangers, and a small assortment of other stuff. In early 2015, I needed to make a career change, and a buddy of mine was doing trim carpentry for himself. I worked with him, and found out very quickly that carpentry just makes sense to me. Within less than a year, I was on my own, working in high end properties. I worked so hard and so much the first few years it was insane. 35, 40, even 50 day stretches without a day off. 12-15 hour days very frequently. Through the sheer volume of work I did over that time, I honed myself into a very capable finish carpenter, and managed to secure work in some of the highest end residential properties in Central Florida. I always loved the challenge stairs presented, so I would take anything stair related that came my way.

 By 2020 I had built my business to the point of having a dozen employees working for me, and while the financial aspect was wonderful, it was also a waking nightmare. That was around the time I started to make the shift from my life being about pursuing money into pursuing money so I could live. I downsized my business heavily, and decided to focus strictly on stair work, with only one or two employees at most, eventually going totally solo. 

My history with cannabis and glass is long reaching, all the way back to 2004. As a young trapper, I had a handful of Jerome Baker bongs, and some other cool things. I got out of that lifestyle around 2007, and the heady glass kinda went with it. I always had a good American piece, but I wouldn't have classified myself as a collector by any means. Just what I needed to get by.

In 2022, scrolling on IG, I came across a glass chain, and had to have it. This got me back into browsing heady glass. A couple months later, my sister accidentally broke it, so I got a new one that is still my favorite glass that I own. I contacted Rusty Glass to have a set of rings made for it, and that was right around the time Sherlock Summer was about to happen at Orlando Glass Gallery. He accepted the commision and also brought up the show, and how OGG was looking to have wood stands made for the show. 100 something custom stands, and 2 weeks later, and Treezus was born. I immediately dove into "canna carpentry", and the glass world head first, and I haven't looked back.

Now it's 2025, and I'm pretty much at the point that this is my full time gig. It's absolutely surreal, and I love to think about how proud 17 year old me would be of the life I've made for myself. I truly cannot put into words how much I appreciate each and every one of you that supports me, and allows me to pursue this crazy dream of mine.
